A Speight’s commercial has swept up a number of prizes in the Effies marketing awards, taking home the grandest of accolades the Grand Effie.
The Speight’s team worked alongside DDB, its advertising agency, to create Speight’s The Dance commercial.
It won a Gold award for FMCG, a Gold Award for Best Strategic Thinking, the Hardest Challenge Award, and the evening’s biggest award, the Grand Effie.
The man responsible for leading the team behind the commercial at Lion, Craig Baldie also won Marketer of the Year.
“It was fantastic to see our teams at Lion and at our agency DDB recognised for their incredible insight and talent in creating this wonderful story that has resonated so strongly with New Zealanders” said Lion NZ managing director Rory Glass.
“The first time we saw the commercial we knew it was something truly special and it has proven to be the case.”
McDonald’s, also represented by DDB, was given a gold in the Topical Marketing category for Return of the Mac(ca’s) commercial.
