Fresh Cuts: What’s new for the week to 7 October?

7th October 2022 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Check what’s new to the market for the week to 7 October 2022. Do you have a new product scheduled for release? Send us the details at product@foodticker.co.nz and we’ll help spread the news.

This week, Silver Fern Farms adds a burger flavour, 73 Citrus expands its vitamin C driven drinks range, DB Breweries launches an RTD brand, BurgerFuel gets into beer, and Six Barrel debuts Seltz Drops.

Silver Fern Farms has added a new flavour to its chilled Honest Burger range, now offering Beef & Venison Burger with Rātā Honey.

The 500g packs contain four 125g burgers, which are seasoned and ready to grill.

The newest addition to the range is being sold in supermarkets nationwide from 3 October 2022 in the chilled meat section with an RRP of $14.

Beverage startup Henry’s Juice has followed up its 73 Citrus orange juice debut with a second flavour.

Like its forerunner, the new Lemon, Lime And Betters flavour contains 1000 mg of liposomal Vitamin C.

The 330ml cans will be in the grab-and-go section in selected Foodstuffs stores, as well as Moore Wilson’s, and the foodservice channel price from $4.50.

With the RTD trend still going strong, DB Breweries is getting in on the act with a new drinks brand that it says was built around the concept of “New Zealand in a bottle”.

Good & Great is available in three vodka-based SKUs comprising “classic Kiwi flavours people know and love, in fresh combinations” according to the drinks group, namely Raspberry & Lime, Passionfruit & Pineapple, and Peach & Pear.

All three flavours come in 10 x 330ml bottles, RRP $26.99. There will also be a mixed pack of 10 x 330ml cans available for a limited time also with an RRP $26.99.

We’ve had burgers, we’ve had beverages, so next is a burger chain making beer out of bread.

BurgerFuel has worked with the OG’s of rescued bread beer, Citizen Collective and Sawmill Brewery, to launch two limited-run craft beers, LagerFuel and LagerFuel Light.

The ultimate long-term goal is to utilise the spent-grain flour by-product from the LagerFuel and LagerFuel Light brewing process and upcycle that grain to bake into future BurgerFuel wholemeal buns.

The 330ml 4.5% and 2.5% ABV cans are available from 5 October – 30 November, or while stocks last from Citizen’s webstore or in-store at BurgerFuel Napier.

Six Barrel Soda has been making real fruit, low sugar drink syrups for over a decade, but says the fact that “low sugar isn’t no sugar” led to its latest NPD.

The Wellington company has developed Seltz Drops – low-waste, sugar-free flavours for sparkling water.

The 50 mL bottles come in Cucumber & Mint, Peach & Passionfruit, Pink Grapefruit, and Strawberry & Lime with each making up to 50 drinks.

They are sold exclusively via Six Barrel’s webstore at present, with an RRP $9.99.
