Fresh Cuts: What’s new for the week to 30 June?

30th June 2023 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Chobani launches two additional ranges, Sprig & Fern has a limited edition with a new hop varietal, DB’s Odd Company looks for company, and AF Drinks’ 31 pack is back for Dry July.

Chobani’s No Sugar Added

Greek yoghurt brand Chobani has launched two additional ranges in Countdown.

No Sugar Added is Chobani’s latest yoghurt innovation, which has no sugar and no sweeteners added, while Chobani FiT is an authentically strained Greek yoghurt blended with fruit.

The No Sugar Added is available in 680g multi-serve tubs in three flavours: Vanilla Bean, Strawberry and Mango Passion Fruit priced at $8.50. Chobani FiT is available in 140g pouches in five flavours: Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Tropical, Strawberry and Raspberry with an RRP of $3.90.

Sprig + Fern Brewing Co’s Headliner ft. NZH-106 NZIPA

On to brew news for this week, Sprig + Fern Brewing Co in Nelson has released the first commercially brewed beer containing a brand new – and until now – top secret hop varietal.

Trial hop NZH-106 is the star of the new, limited-release beer, named Headliner ft. NZH-106 NZIPA.

The experimental hop is part of NZ Hops’ Bract Brewing Programme, which seeks to develop and release new and exciting hop varieties to market through a network of Master Growers.

Previous alumni of the programme include Nectaron and the recently released Superdelic.

Headliner ft. NZH-106 NZIPA is available on tap in the thirteen Sprig + Fern Taverns in Wellington, Nelson, Tasman, and Christchurch, as well as Little Sprig Seatoun. It is also being sold in 440ml cans and 888ml bottles in select stores nationwide, or from the Sprig + Fern online shop.

Sweet As Brew will be available on P&O Cruises’ Pacific Explorer

Elsewhere in the world of beer and marketing, P&O Cruises has developed its first branded Kiwi beer, in partnership with Asahi Beverages New Zealand’s Boundary Road Brewery.

The Sweet As Brew lager will be available on tap on board P&O Cruises flagship Pacific Explorer while she cruises roundtrip from Auckland.

More than 600 entries were submitted in a competition to name the lager.

DB’s launches an Odd Company collaboration

DB Breweries has also been getting in on the collab action for its latest Odd Company activation, with some merch to boot.

The owner of the RTD brand has unveiled a limited-edition range of merchandise called The Granny Pack – a fanny pack designed by dancer and brand ambassador Lance Savali to hold two of DB’s drinks, including the recently released pineapple & watermelon flavour.

The new product has been created to encourage Gen Z to “pop a can with their gran”, based on insight that Gen Z’ers are more likely to spend time with their grandparents than any other generation before them.

The pineapple, watermelon & vodka mixed with sparkling water are sold in 10 packs of 220ml cans from $24.99.

AF Drinks’ limited edition 31-packs for Dry July

AF Drinks has brought back its 31-packs for Dry July.

This year they feature four designs from award-winning New Zealand artists with intellectual disabilities and $20 from each pack sold will be donated to support the IHC Art Awards.

The limited edition packs are available now at New World stores, Farro Fresh and online, NZ only for $130.
