Hastings Distillers’ new organic aperitif, Garage Project’s first drop of 2024, and ICYMI… Lewis Road Creamery’s summer ice cream addition.
Hastings Distillers has unveiled a new organic aperitif.
Constance, is a nod to its French counterpart, Lillet, but made entirely locally from Hawke’s Bay wine and organically grown botanicals, blending local wine, biodynamic raspberries, liquorice, cardamom, bitter oranges, clove, rosemary, star anise and gentian root.
It can be served in a martini, chilled and poured over ice, or as a spritz. Constance has 17% ABV, and said it contain minimal sulphites.
It is priced at $45 per bottle and available at Hastings Distillers or online.
Garage Project has unveiled its first new release of the year.
The Wellington brewer teamed up with expat Kiwis and Australian brewing royalty One Drop to create Home, Land & Sea – a Hazy IPA dry hopped with clean fusion.
According to One Drop, clean fusion is the complete removal of yeast and other particulate after primary fermentation is complete, but before the addition of a large dry-hop load to the beer. This dry-hopped beer is then separated again to remove harsh and undesirable hop material and particulate, allowing a clean, full, true-to-type expression of the hops used.
Coming in at 8.2% ABV, it is priced at $52.50 for a four-pack and is available online and exclusively through Garage Project venues.
ICYMI… and while the summer days continue, there are ice cream sales to be made.
Released before Christmas, Lewis Road Creamery’s newest flavour is Gingerbread ice cream, featuring a gingerbread-flavoured base, with spiced ginger sauce and chunks of ginger biscuit pieces.
Available nationwide at New World, Farro and Four Square, as well as Pak’nSave South Island priced at around $8.99 for 470ml.
