Fresh Cuts: What’s new for the week to 18 November

18th November 2022 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Check what’s new to the market for the week to 18 November 2022. Do you have a new product scheduled for release? Send us the details at product@foodticker.co.nz and we’ll help spread the news.

Frucor Suntory brings a new sub-category to NZ, Moa extends it RTD offer, FSL Food’s Fuzio goes green, Rebel Bakehouse adds more bagel, Westgold butters up, and two NZ brand collabs launch.

Frucor Suntory has gone for some innovation in its shelf stable juice range – launching a brand new sub-category of canned sparkling juice hybrids.

The Japanese-owned drinks company, which is planning to exit the chilled juice segment, has applied the innovation to its Real McCoy and Just Juice brands.

The Real McCoy Sparkling range combines fruit juice and sparkling water. Dark Grape, Orange & Ruby Red Grapefruit and Apple & Cranberry combinations are available in 330ml cans nationwide, with a four-pack retailing for around $5.

Meanwhile, making a return in a canned format is Just Juice Bubbles, blending fruit juice and lemonade in a 50:50 mix across its Tropical, Orange & Mango and Tropical 50% Less flavours.

Just Juice Bubbles are available from retailers nationwide with eight packs retailing for $8-$9.

Moa Brewing Co is extending its ready-to-drink offering, with a new alcoholic ginger beer joining its portfolio alongside its Hey Hey RTD launched around this time last year.

The new Moa Ginger Bomb Ginger Beer is traditionally brewed alcoholic ginger beer – with a hint of chilli – contains 4% alc/vol.

In line with the brewers exclusive distribution deal with Foodstuffs, the new beverage will be available through New World and Pak’nSave in the South Island only at this stage.

Sixteen can packs are available online from Moa for $70, and it is available by keg.

Nelson-based frozen distributor FSL Foods is chasing after the heath-conscious consumer with the launch of Fruzio Everyday Greens.

The new mix of spinach, pineapple, mango and kiwifruit extends its current frozen convenience range which spans smoothy mixes, fruit and straight spinach.

The 750g packs are sold in the freezer section at Pak’nSave and New World stores nationwide priced around $12.

When brioche meets bagels… you get a Rebel Bakehouse Brioche Bagel – a new limited edition offering from Wairarapa bread manufacturer Breadcraft.

Breadcraft only entered the bagel category at the start of this year as part of a strategic shift to focus its speciality brands on value-driven categories.

The 360g format is available in Countdown stores nationwide.

Westland Milk Products has launched a new range of butters infused with herbs and spice under its consumer butter brand Westgold.

Garlic & Parsley Butter and Chilli & Garlic infused butters are the first off the block with more flavours to be released in the coming year.

Available in 100g sticks, the products are Westland’s first new butter product to hit supermarket shelves since 2014 and is available at Countdown nationwide and North Island New World stores. The packs retail for around $3.20.

And two iconic New Zealand brands have teamed up with national chains this week.

First off, Mondelēz International has teamed up with doughnut chain Krispy Kreme to leverage its Pascall Pineapple Lump.

The limited edition Krispy Kreme x Pascall Pineapple Lump tie-up delivers two doughnuts in a filled or ring variety.

They are available now and cost $4.20 each.

Secondly, we have the Griffin’s Food Company in a tie-up with Antares Restaurant Group’s quick service restaurant franchise Burger King.

Rather than develop a new product, the duo has just agreed a product tie-up they’ve called the CrunchBurger where Creamy Mayo Cheeseburger meets Griffin’s Eta Ripples.

The Crunchburger costs $5.20 and is available for a limited time.
