Fourteen Auckland food and beverage businesses have become the first in New Zealand to be awarded the Slow Food Snail of Approval, a global programme which promotes and celebrates locally grown and produced food.
The Slow Food movement was founded in Italy in 1989 and had since grown to more than 160 countries worldwide, New Zealand now included.
Matakana’s Brick Bay Wines, Clevedon tomato-growers Curious Croppers, organic local food delivery service Ooooby and Earthbound Honey were among those honoured at an event on Tuesday.
