July seafood exports jump 29%

26th August 2021 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Exports of fish, crustaceans, and molluscs grew to $155m in July 2021, up $35m or 29% on the same month last year, according to Stats NZ.

The largest contributor to this rise was frozen fish, up $18m to $36m. Second to frozen fish were crustaceans, up $11m or 61% to $28m โ€“ almost all of this figure was from exports of live rock lobsters and other sea crawfish, valued at $26m.

Stats NZ said total exports of fish, crustaceans, and molluscs have risen nearly 40% in the past 15 years with China New Zealand’s top trading partner for the products.
