To help ease port congestion as a result of China’s Covid-19 restrictions, Zespri has redirected one vessel scheduled to go to mainland China and Taiwan to Japan and Taiwan.
The kiwifruit marketer and exporter said in a market update on Wednesday that it would not affect overall market allocation volumes.
It added that Japan, Korea and Taiwan are performing particularly well with its largest-ever shipment of fruit currently bound for Japan and Korea, carrying more than 8,850 pallets of fruit.
Europe, North America and the rest of its markets have also started to get their seasons underway.
Zespri said European deliveries started strongly but it noted some fruit quality issues in its first
vessels in Europe and in other markets.
