US F&B trade looks strong for year ahead – NZUS Council

25th June 2021 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

The US is likely to remain the largest market for wine and beef exporters over the coming 12 months, according to NZUS Council executive director Jordan Small following the latest quarterly data on New Zealand’s trade with the country

For food exporters, the return of high value market segments like foodservice for restaurants and hotels, now that 70% of adult Americans were vaccinated and could dine out, would underpin demand.

“This recovery will provide a boost for New Zealand exporters and will supplement the hard work they have done developing new channels such as online direct to consumer sales,” Small said.

The council’s NZ-US Trade Flows – March Quarter 2021 showed an an overall 13.4% fall in goods and services exports to the US driven by massive drops in travel and tourism, down 79% by value, and declines across many of New Zealand’s major export categories to that country.
