Five ships carrying 28,000 cartons of T&G Global’s Envy apples are on their way to Asia.
The vessels departed Napier Port last week with 518 tonnes of the fruit destined for China and South East Asia.
T&G director of operations Craig Betty said the company would ship approximately two million cartons, or 200 million Envy apples, this season to 60 countries. T&G and its partner growers across the world expected to sell a total of 5.5 million cartons of Envy this year.
The apples would start arriving in international markets in late April.
