Synlait Milk saw its total greenhouse gas emissions rise in the year to July 2021 but it fell significantly per product tonne for both its on- and off-farm work.
The dairy company’s latest sustainability report released today showed total GHG emissions were up 6.7% to 1,073,326 tCO2e, compared to the July 2020 year.
However, scope 3 on-farm GHG emissions per kilogram of milk solids reduced 5% over the year to 10.73 tCO2e, and scope 1 and 2 off-farm emissions per tonne of product fell to 0.66 tCO2e, down 10.8% on the previous year.
