The New Zealand potato industry has welcomed the Government’s investigation into what it calls the “proven threat” of surplus frozen fries.
Earlier this week the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) launched an investigation into the alleged dumping of potato fries and wedges from Belgium and the Netherlands to New Zealand.
Potatoes New Zealand on Thursday said the industry was relieved by the news of the investigation, as the surplus was already 2.6m tonnes “and growing” due to the impacts of further lockdowns in parts of Europe.
