Beef and Lamb New Zealand is advising red meat processors and exporters to manage livestock volumes as current global supply chain issues caused by Covid-19 are causing bottlenecks.
Port congestion, vessel schedule changes and a shortage of containers was causing bottlenecks and increased costs across the supply chain.
B&LNZ said processing companies must ensure the volume of livestock inflows to their plants matched their ability to secure available shipping containers, ship the products to global markets and manage their inventory.
