Needless casualties from continuing locked border – Hospitality NZ

25th November 2021 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Delaying the opening of New Zealand’s border to foreign nationals until 30 April 2022 will see more hospitality businesses going to the wall, says Hospitality New Zealand.

The government is allowing international visitors into the country from 11.59pm 30 April but they still have to go into seven days of self-isolation.

“It’s inevitable more businesses, many of them family-owned, will fail over the next five months without foreign tourists,” said Hospitality NZ chief executive Julie White.

“I’m completely baffled as to why our borders can’t be opened to tested and vaccinated people from safe countries well before then.”
