Manufacturing sales volumes reached a record peak of $27bn in the March quarter, up 0.4% or $113m from the December 2020 quarter, according to Stats NZ.
When compared with the March 2020 quarter, manufacturing sales rose 4.2% or $1.1bn over the year.
Meat and dairy products manufacturing sales volumes rose 1.3%, or $104m, in the March 2021 quarter, the second-largest industry rise.
At the beginning of March, dairy prices rose to their highest levels in almost seven years, Stats NZ’s business insights manager, Sue Chapman, said.
