Fast-growing Bay of Plenty kiwifruit packhouse, Mount Pack & Cool, is ploughing ahead with expansion plans adding a purpose-built packhouse for Gold kiwifruit off the back of strong export demand for the fruit.
Work would begin in January when stage four of the expansion at the 6.5ha post-harvest facility at Tauriko Business Estate in Tauranga kicks-off.
The privately-owned company said the extension would make it the largest individual post-harvest site in NZ, increasing its capacity to 24 million trays of Class 1 kiwifruit by 2022, up from 6 million trays in 2018 when it opened.
