Many hospitality businesses will fail due to the lockdown unless the government provides targeted support, says Hospitality New Zealand.
“The problem is there is no access to ongoing funding for businesses,” said Hospitality NZ chief executive Julie White.
“They can access the wage subsidy scheme, which is great, but it doesn’t pay the rent and other fixed costs.”
White urged the government to extend the current resurgence support package to hospitality and accommodation operators to help keep businesses alive.
