Gig economy workers worse off – CTU

15th July 2021 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

The Council of Trade Unions has called for better conditions for gig economy workers like rideshare and food delivery drivers following a union report into the sector.

“The facts from the report are clear – you’re worse off as a gig worker. Let’s make work better for everyone and ensure that basic employment rights like the minimum wage, apply to all working people,” CTU secretary Melissa Ansell-Bridges said.

The report, Gig Work in Aotearoa, was published by First Union, which draws its member from finance, industrial, retail, stores & transport.
