Fresh Cuts: What’s new for the week to 25 February

25th February 2022 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

Check what’s new to the market for the week to 25 February 2022. Do you have a new product scheduled for release? Send us the details at product@foodticker.co.nz and we’ll help spread the news.

Fix & Fogg ups the ante on its range of fiery nut butters, Blue Frog adds a keto offering to its cereal range, and Giesen Wines keeps up with the growing trend for 0% alcohol with the addition of a new varietal to its alcohol-free portfolio.

What do you get when you cross Fix & Fogg peanut butter with the world’s hottest legal chillies?

Its limited edition spread Smoke and Chaos is the third spice and peanut butter mash-up created by the Wellington company following the release of Smoke and Fire nearly six years ago, and its follow-up Smoke and Inferno.

Made with Carolina Reaper peppers, just 2000 jars have been made of the nut butter, complete with a wax seal on the lids.

Available online from Fix & Fogg for $14.95 a jar or $33 for the trio of Smoke peanut butters.

Blue Frog has gone keto with its new cereal.

The Almond, Peanut and Raspberry edition – with dried fruit from Nelson’s Little Beauties – has just one gram of sugar and four grams of carbohydrates per serve.

Available online and at Farro Fresh, Moore Wilson’s and major supermarkets for $14.50.

Giesen Wines is expanding its three-strong 0% wine portfolio, with the addition of an alcohol-free Merlot.

The Christchurch-headquartered company already produces a Pinot Gris, Rosé and Savignon Blanc after investing more than $1m in alcohol removal technology.

The Merlot is on sale in Australia now and will be available in New Zealand supermarkets and bottle stores from April.

And finally this week, keto and peanut butter combines.

Forty Thieves has developed what it says is New Zealand’s first keto butter in three flavours – original made with eight nuts & seeds; caramel; and raspberry and macadamia.

Currently available online for $8.49, the 290g jars will be on sale at Countdown and Foodstuffs nationwide next month.
