A competition to find innovative food and beverage startups has gone national in an effort to support new businesses and suppliers struggling as a result of Covid-19.
Foodstarter was originally a Christchurch-only competition led by the city’s Ministry of Awesome and Foodstuffs South Island, but has now been opened to companies across the country with the support of Foodstuffs North Island and Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development.
The third year of the event would see it split into two categories comprising F&B startup, for businesses which are not currently ranged with New World, and Small Supplier with New World, for businesses who are ranged with New World.
Entries were now open, and would close on 7 February 2021.
Winners get access to $240,000 worth of services including business incubation, product development, retail advertising, packaging design, and would see their products sold at New World.
