Foley Wines has added its voice to the chorus of winemakers reporting poor harvest results with the company reporting close to a 30% decrease on last year.
Chief executive Mark Turnbull said the harvest totalled 5,582 tonnes across the Marlborough, Martinborough and Mt Difficulty wineries – an overall decrease of 28% on last year’s harvest of 7,803 tonnes.
However, Turnbull added that the company has been working on a ‘premiumisation’ strategy over recent times and believed the work done on this, along with securing new channels at higher price points, would help mitigate the impact of higher vintage costs.
