Comvita has appointed a trio of new board directors, namely Bridget Coates, Yawen Wu and chief executive David Banfield.
The mānuka honey exporter said the “appointments combined further the board’s oversight on ESG related matters, in-market expertise for China and North America and more tightly links governance and management within Comvita”.
Coates is currently chair of Toitu Tahua : Centre for Sustainable Finance, chair of Koi Tu for Informed Futures at the University of Auckland and chair of Fonterra’s Sustainability Panel. Yawen is head of the department of asset management within China Resources Enterprise, Comvita’s largest institutional investor and strategic partner in China. Banfield’s appointment as executive director, effective yesterday, made him managing director and CEO.
Comvita also announced one departure from the board, with Paul Reid stepping down effective 1 October.
Separately, agribusiness Scales Corporation has appointed of Sun Qiang (Alex), as a non-executive director of the company, effective from 13 September 2021. He replaced Tomakin Lai who has resigned as a director due to a change in responsibilities within the China Resources Enterprise group.
