The New Zealand Meat Board has pledged up to $1m in funding for Beef + Lamb New Zealand Genetics’ activities.
The cash is coming from the NZMB’s $76m of reserves which can be accessed to manage a contingency event impacting export markets, quota management and annual industry-good funding.
The proposed investment was put to NZMB’s 14,000 farmers as part of its Annual Meeting information, with some 73% of respondents backing the move.
