$147k investment drives Food Nation innovation

10th May 2021 By Staff Reporter | news@foodticker.co.nz | @foodtickernz

A diverse range of new processed vegetable products are now available to Kiwi consumers thanks to a $147,000 investment from the Ministry for Primary Industries.

The money from MPI’s Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund went to a two-year project led by Auckland-based company Food Nation to develop a range of meat alternatives using mushrooms, grains and vegetables.

Miranda Burdon, co-founder of Food Nation, said their products used fresh New Zealand ingredients as much as possible and worked in partnership with Meadow Mushrooms, Kiwi Quinoa, Hemp Farm, and the Pure NZ Buckwheat Co.
